Happy weekend........

I have to admit to finding it a bit of an effort keeping up with my blog these days and then I get behind and I have so much to share that it puts me off even more ..lol....I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator.....

A couple of weekends ago, I went on our annual craft weekend away to Heathcote...what a ball we all  had......and I was so glad I got time to spend with jenny before she left for Queensland to live ....
booo hooo....

Anyhow we had a fantastic time , lots of laughs, lovely food , op shopping and quite a bit of creating done....

our craft room is the old squash court, so its huge.....

........and this is a pic of the Fawlty Towers dining room.....:)

  Heathers gorgeous quilt ......

and finished a few weeks later ...its just stunning !

and me?

I got my quilt practically finished ....laying it out.....

wooohoooo, I just have to tie the layers together now....I LOVE how it turned out.......it took a lot of fabric that I collected over 6 months when  it was on sale or on clearance.....I couldn't decide on a color theme so I went with anything goes... and chose my favourite fabrics....

love its mismatched, vintagy  look.....

I also made this little wire birdcage, its rough as ...the wire was really hard to bend with your fingers....and I didn't have right tools with me..

I made this one after I got home....

I wanted a more substantial bird so found these cheap Christmas decs at Big w.....they didn't  cover  very well with paint ( 4 coats and they were still pink)  but covered well with paper and napkins....

and this little [ big] is the latest addition to our family....born 3 weeks ago and still unnamed.......

the only surviving one with whole milkbar to himself....

a little whippet puppy....

who is very cuddly and starting to develop a personality....

........eyes open :)

                                                            dozing tonight on my lap.....

well, i finally got it finished and on her bed for when she got home after her trip around Australia last week..

i found the original pattern on the front cover of this book and knew instantly that i could incorporate the photos into circles and from there it was easy to come up with other ideas for the circles...

i used a lot of the old quilt but had to order more green fabric which i managed to find after a loooong search [it had been discontinued]. Charlie had picked this out while she overseas and just loved it....

i cannot lay claim to the quilting tho, there is no way i could manage that .... Gail did a brilliant job and we seem to be on the same wavelength which makes its easy....

anyway heres the BEFORE .. i just wasnt happy with this, it just looked boring to me........

TA...daaaa.... the AFTER.......
this quilt is huge and hard to get to fit in a photo :) the circle strip is off centre .....

lots and lots of freemotioning....

I took the Photos from Charlies Facebook,[tried to get one from each country] converted them to b/w and had them printed.i still couldnt fit them all on....
This pic is the view from her last host family's house....

Danish Daisies :)

i used some of her favorite quotes and a little message from me....

i

so thats it, my second and last quilt :)

doona covers , now thats an idea !!

my tag this week...

i had made my tag earlier this week but the camera was flat... :( anyway this weeks Tag Tuesday was white and i knew that would be challenge, being a color person...

i virtually pulled out anything white with lots of texture, embossed vellum, muslin, the white bubbly paper off the top of chocolates, doily bits, beading, organza and torn bits of table gripper...:) the icing on the cake was when i found the frosty butterfly from the kids old jewellery...

its pretty messy , i just kept layering stuff :)

ive just gone on two weeks holidays and have started or should i say restarted charlies quilt...i made it last year for her 18th but didnt like it, i had no plan apart from the bottom and after that it got very boring and structured ! anyway last night i pulled it apart and i have a plan ;) it would be nice to have done for her 19th bday in a couple of weeks... today hasn't been great with a burn, a cut and mismatched squares lol

im liking the fabrics and the photos form her travels...i can reuse most of them but its not working for me at all...
im having lots of trouble uploading pics tonight, only one at a time, it seems to be able to handle..:(

a bit more.....

I was able to get a quite a bit more done on my quilt today.
I used Merry's machine at craft and free motioned away. I really enjoy doing that. Its very new to me but i am very good at doing loops!!!!

Sewed a few beads on too but this afternoon i made fabric beads. [I am thinking of putting a 'fringing arrangement' on the bottom.]It was so very relaxing and then I made a big mess embossing them with micro beads [bought really cheap from Paperific ] and clear utee. Not sure if they are going to look too heavy but i can always them for something else. I love just the lace ones too. There are so many options for these like wrapping text or wire around but being pressed for time [have to work tomorrow] these will have to do.

Then again i may use the non-embossed ones!!! Hmmmm.

Still havent decided on a bird, butterfly or hummingbird yet either......
