well, i finally got it finished and on her bed for when she got home after her trip around Australia last week..
i found the original pattern on the front cover of this book and knew instantly that i could incorporate the photos into circles and from there it was easy to come up with other ideas for the circles...
i used a lot of the old quilt but had to order more green fabric which i managed to find after a loooong search [it had been discontinued]. Charlie had picked this out while she overseas and just loved it....
i cannot lay claim to the quilting tho, there is no way i could manage that .... Gail did a brilliant job and we seem to be on the same wavelength which makes its easy....
anyway heres the BEFORE .. i just wasnt happy with this, it just looked boring to me........
TA...daaaa.... the AFTER.......
this quilt is huge and hard to get to fit in a photo :) the circle strip is off centre .....
lots and lots of freemotioning....
I took the Photos from Charlies Facebook,[tried to get one from each country] converted them to b/w and had them printed.i still couldnt fit them all on....
This pic is the view from her last host family's house....
Danish Daisies :)
so thats it, my second and last quilt :)
doona covers , now thats an idea !!

I missed this post too. The quilt looks INCREDIBLE Jen! Such a special gift for your girl ; one she will treasure forever. The lady who did the quilting did a incredible job - but it's thanks to you that this quilt came to fruition. Your weekend away this weekend sounded perfect too - always nice to get away with arty friends.
Have a good week.
Lots of love
Dot xx
P.S I encourage you to make a doona cover :)
WOW - that is one gorgeous, creative, beautiful quilt! Bet Charlie loves it!!
