Fabric paper play and Christmas :)

we had the best afternoon last week when our little mixed media group got together for some fabric paper play....

now Jenny and Clare have already posted pics of what we made so I wont show them all again here....

make sure you check out Clare's blog tho and see what she made from her fabric paper too... absolutely wonderful...

im so glad we went to Wendy's gorgeous house at this time of the year , its was decked out beautiful with her handmade creations ...oh and her studio.....what I wouldn't give lol.....

here we all are being very industrious...

now Jenny is not glitter gal.....

but now she is....

here's proof lol....she cracked open some Martha stewart that she had for a couple of years...

Glitter Queen Jenny....

and mine finished...

each time we meet we meet we arrange a swap for our next meeting... we decided on recycled Christmas cards... I used corrugated card, music and onion bag...I also used some of my left over Kaiser die cuts and papers to make the envelopes.... Lynne is part of our group and lives away but we swap with her too.......:)

and some Christmassy  peeks around the house... Sussies lovely Danish felty hearts...

a little bit of crafting happening too.....my poor old wreath was a bit had it and had a much needed revamp with some hessian/burlap....

and yes it is beginning to feel like Christmas ...finally....

a little bit Christmas

It was a lovely social and creative week this past week.....

a happy little craft group on Wednesday..... busy stitching.....well most of us....

I made this chocolate [truffle ] cake..... it was so simple and delicious ....more will be being made this week.......
and the went out for our annual Christmas do on wed night and had lots and lots of laughs...

washi tape and felt make a pretty wrapping.....

Charlie and I decorated and got into some Christmas spirit....... we haven't got a big tree this year so we had a big change around and have decorated a bit differently to what we normally do.......its good to have a change :)I love pulling out my handmade dollies each Christmas....
we did some midnight crafting with all the silver baubles that we had spare....
I decorated the sides of my craft shelves with lots of little treasured ornaments from friends all over the world....the sides used to be open but everything fell thru so i hot glued corrugated cardboard on them...makes pinning things to them a breeze and I love the look....
my very generous brother gifted me a brand new computer for Christmas and I cant believe how fantastic it is...so quick , no tower and hardly any cords... im loving it............ and if there is ever a fire I can pick it up by the stand and carry it out........bonus!!!!!

tomorrow at 7am the vce results come out.........am keeping my fingers crossed that Charlie has done well enough to get into the courses she wants to....

theres more but its getting late and I wanted to say that its just beyond belief the terrible massacre that happened yesterday.......my heart goes out to all those grieving their loved ones......

2 minute Christmas cards....

i needed to make  some quick Christmas cards this year and was going to buy  normal size cards and cut them into half or 4  but when i was perusing Kmarts paper craft shelves i came across these little tiny cards and envelopes....perfect....i bought white cards [10 for $2.oo] and a mix of silver and white enves [same price]

now i love washi tapes and collect a few whenever i see them...... i only have small stash and i knew my woodgrain one [which is my absolute favorite], would come in handy one day :)

you could however make a handmade version  using paper or fabric tape adhered onto double sided adhesive or a selection of ribbons and ric rac....

i think they look pretty cute, they hardly cost anything, no two are the same and they were super quick.....

  Take that Jamie Oliver !!!!!

[cept that he's making a fortune from his 15 min meals :)

felt snowflake ornies :)

so you can see i got a bit carried away......
i saw this beautiful felted snowflake on Pinterest and you wouldn't believe how easy they are to make......a big thank you to Steph for great instructions.....

i did make and takes at the work Christmas night as well as taking them to craft where the girls have been happily stitching away....
i also had a Christmas craft night at home too the other night with Charlie and her friend and neither of them are really hand stitchers but they got beautiful results...
i did get a  bit experimental and played around with different threads, ties and backing....this one has vintage music sheet in it.....i think its easier to use a glue stick tho if you are lining with paper , its not as flexible as felt or fabric.

after i made the white ones, i thought a garland would be cute.....i made these with different colors foil fabric behind and have displayed them on my little wall that hopefully will be getting paint job after Christmas.....

the wall does looks a bit bare still ,i need to tizzy it up.....

they would look cute all draped around tree tho....

i used my star and heart punches [spotty sells them]but you can use hole ones like in the directions which are
really clear but if you have any problems , yell out.....oh and a white gel pen is great on dark colors of felt...

last night i made 30[yes 30] Christmas cards in an hour , so get out your washi tapes for the next post :)

Happy New Years everyone!!!!

To all my blogger Friends, wishing you all a very happy, healthy and creative new year!!

Lets hope this year is peaceful and all the financial doom and gloom improves.

I have finally got some batteries [well, nicked them from hubby's work camera!] and am sharing some summer Christmas pics for my o/s readers.

We had great day over at the farm with family and its always lovely to see all the cousins getting along so well.

One of our family traditions is that the pressies get opened after our Christmas dinner. sometimes that has been 10 pm in the evening, a rather long wait for the littlies!!

Papa dons a santa hat and the youngest has to help him hand out the presents. Ofcourse, we usually lose the helper after he or she gets a present but this year 'little G' did a wonderful job and stacked his up to open later!!!

This year we had a pinata.....first the kids...

go on bash it little G....

K gave it a pretty good whack....

Getting battered....

oops it fell off, but still intact. Uncle S to the rescue....

Go aunty s!! wouldve been my turn next!!

Collecting the spoils....

And of course it wouldnt be Christmas without the family cricket game....

Go Warnie.......

smacked for 6......

fielders....

Usually our cricket pitch would be dead lawn but we have had a bit of rain and everywhere is looking quite green at the moment....

Oh and look what my sil got for Christmas. Isnt it beautiful , its made from ironbark. It has a little possum head carved into the leg......which i didnt take a pic of!!
