more ornies....

I made these little ornies from some fabric paper i made earlier in the spring. Originally they were just going to be creams and golds , fairly neutral but they looked so bland i had to add some color! I flooded them with twinklings and added a conglomeration of glitter, clear utee, mica and gel meduim. Saw something similar that Tim Holtz did but this was my version!
I used a coffee mug to get the circle and added text to the top with little gold paint.
My sewing mchine, the marvelous PFaff [NOT!!] is being repaired [AGIAN] so a friend lent me one. Its a Husqvarna, new in the box after 12 years!!! Its a very basic machine but sews beautifully and it takes metallic in the top so i was thrilled. [i can only sew metallic in the bobbin on mine]
I find it very hard to believe that that you never have a need for a sewing machine in 12 years!!!

My scans are a bit wonky, sorry!!

I love the doily one. It was just this piece of doily that had the center pulled out....

Some lusciousness…….

Made my Christmas cake yesterday, should have been made 2 months ago but at least its not the day before Christmas like a few years ago!

It’s a chocolate fruit cake soaked with lots of orange liqueur. You brush it on, have sip and brush it on, have a sip, brush on some more, sip some more, you get the picture!

I slept very well last night.

I made two so I have one to take over to the farm at Christmas. My sil is rather a fan; she shares my tastes in alcohol and chocolate.

While I was sipping and brushing, I made these 4 atc’s for a house challenge on a forum I am a member of.

Think I went overboard with the glitter on the pinky ones but it is Christmas after all.

No fabric and no stitching but lots of glitter!!!

The first two i have for trade, if anyone wants to trade, ema me.i am not in hurry if you dont have any cards to trade just yet.

Just noticed that the scanner has chopped all the feet off, they do really have feet!!!

A
nd my finished cakes...look a bit decadent, dont they? i love pecans specially choccy coated.

a few more Chrissie cards....

I had to make new ones for the craft girls cos they had seen the other ones and i do like things to be a surprise!
I picked up these stickers from Spotters and used the CD watercolor crayons instead of fabric pastels. They were OK but I didn't like them as much as they don't have that nice translucency that the others had and the card stock buckled. I had to iron them flat. When i looked at them in the morning they needed something more so i stencilled on some gold stars [star sequin mesh that Ann gave me! In fact she gave me big bundle of different ones. I was VERY happy as i had been bemoaning the fact that i had nearly run out and not been able to get any locally....]

inchie cubes ornaments.......

these have been so much fun to make but i havent been able to post til now. I saw the idea and tute on Pattis blog and thought that they'd be ideal little christmas pressies. Each year i give my craft girls a little ornie [i get flowers and choccies!] and last night we had our craft breakup and they loved them.
follow this
link too for the box pattern.

I used twinkling h2os [made the boxes a bit soggy and they came a bit battered looking, but i liked that ...] gold paint on the edges and glitter gold and white gel pens. The gel meduim has made them fairly tough but dont know if they will survive os mail [i 'll let you know on that one !!] oh and lots of kindy glitz....
The worst part of these for me was cutting out the tiny images. However i decided not to be too fussy and outlined them with the gel pens ......

I raided my beads and found a pearl Christmas garland that i bought just for the beads. The first ones had these chunky beads. Then when i ran out i used whatever i had on hand mixing them up, glass, plastic, sequins, rusty bells. old ones from the kids necklaces.
I also used different colored wires [all my beading tools have disappeared and i had trouble crimping with the round nose pliers so dont look too closely! i also used a large eyed needle to poke holes in the top and bottom of the box and thread thru the box. Made it heaps quicker but you need to cut your wire longer so you can cut the bent bit off.

I decided that i wanted to package them nicely and used toilet rolls covered with scrap paper , overhung at the top and bottom with slits and glued them down. I added a paper circle to each end to tidy it up and added a loop of ribbon in the top circle. made some labels using leftover glitter stickers.

i imagine that they would be lovely covered in brown paper with laces and ribbon and collage on them too. if you had the time of course!!!

i love these cone beads on the bottom. looks like bells....

i discovered a scratch on the bottom bead so covered it up with a tiny angel! a happy accident...

And so thats about half of them !!LOL!! they were addictive little suckers!!!

Big thank you too, to Patty and Shelly Rae Wood for the pattern and tute.

oh and Patty made a washi one, its beautiful!! i love it simplicity and elegance....

Little ornies....

just some little ornies i made to pop in with some Christmas cards. Made from chipboard shapes that my local ss is getting made. Melinda has a great range of papers and embellishments and a bit of a ribbon nut, so there is always something i have to have!

I used polished pigments mixed with gel medium, they came out a bit darker than i thought, so i lightened them up with kindy glitz and gel pens. Think i added some more text to a couple of these too.

Tickled pink....

We had a great day at Cobram yesterday. On the bus at 6.15 [after 4 hrs sleep!!, thats a whole other story!] and home at 1.30. Another 5 hrs sleep and i am so raring to go.... NOT!!!
It was bit of a shame for Luce tho, she has been sick all week with a nasty cold and was unable to go.
Anyhow, there was lots of very talented young designers there and the fashion pde was a brilliant finish to the night.
Heres the results....

Charlies Pjs.... First

The judges asked her lots of question about how she did the screenprinting and felting. This was her design on the jammies and hubby showed her how to screenprint.

Charlies Queen of the outback.... Third prize

Lucy's battle for balance.... First prize!!
modelled here by the lovely Becka.....

Poor Becka , it was so hot and she had a huge wait. She couldnt sit down and she was a lather when we finally peeled it off her.

At the fashion pde in the evening, she walked down the stage and banged the stick into the ground....

........It snapped in half!!!!!

The audience roared and then she picked them up , turned around and threw both arms in the air, The audience loved it, she couldnt have rehearsed it better!!!!!
It was so funny, poor girl , she was really embarassed about it but thats ok , now i can get it out of my laundry!!!!!

Becka did well too, getting third for one of her lovely dresses.

There was so many other interesting outfits there too. i loved the calico section.... Doesnt Abby look a picture in her beetroot/ leaf and tea and coffee dyed creation, love her handmade roses and sweet hat.

Becka looking all glammed up to go to the races.......

Loved this dress of Belindas, she pulled a silk flower to pieces and stitched it on.... got 3rd too.

Overall our school did really well and their teacher was pretty thrilled with the results. I had a great time checking out the outfits and the design folios, they were absolutely amazing, i wish i had half their painting and drawing talent.

Couldnt get over how green Cobram was , and they had their sprinklers on at the school later in the evening.

Sprinklers , what are they?????? havent seen them for a number of years.
Poor little kids around here wouldnt know what it what was like to cool off under them in the summer!!!

The jacarandas were out too and they were just glorious. wish i had taken a pic....
[Unfortunately , i spent a bit of time outside running backwards and forward and the 'itchies' [ as everyone calls them!] have reappeared, not that they have ever gone , but i was hoping.....]

cheers jenxo

loooong post....

Well i dont where to start, its been so long since i have posted but here goes.....

Its been pretty busy round here with 2 girls getting ready to go to a schools major fashion event at Cobram on Friday. I was asked by C's teacher to go up on the bus and have taken the day off work to be one of the parent helpers. One of C's friends has put me in charge of the videoing, something of a worry considering how L's ag art one turned out!!! she's seen that one too!

Charlie is entering her teatowel dress as Queen of the Outback. She has made a crown with native flowers from the NT [from tourist tea towels] and done some lovely beading. To go with it she also dyed up some plastic gloves. I think she's going to do the Queens little wave as she leaves the catwalk!

Shes also entered some jammies she has made . To go with them , she has done a little 'ted' bat!!his name is Ross!! she got the pattern from a book at school so i dont know who the designer but i think he's just gorgeous, i love his little wings.....

She also wanted some slippers to go with it. She took some wool to school and came home with these. Arent they cool? they are meant to be two left feet.

It amazes me how kids these days just have that 'i am going to do that and just do it! no second thoughts , no doubt , i can and i will! I know not every kid is like that but i also work with lots of youngsters and they really all have this can do attitude to life. wonderful!

Both my girls have also been very to lucky to have this wonderful textiles teacher who lets them make what they want and encourage them!!!!

And Lucy??? well luce is still making 5 items to be entered. I havent seen my kitchen table top for weeks!!! However she has finished this horse to enter in the recycled section. Its made from an old towel and she made the pattern herself. I was very impressed cos it has a gusset and she worked it all out herself. I love his big eyes!

She has also been paper mache-ing a dress form and tying buttons into plastic [could be interesting!!!]

i have been busy working. lots of overtime and fitting in some making. They are all for pressies so i cant show you for a little while.

However i have recieved some lovely pressies in the mail.
My friend Les in Canada sent me a paper bag album in early sept. When it didnt arrive she made me another one. I ended up getting both of them in the mail in one week!!! She has put so much work into them and i am still finding things she has filled the pockets with!!I love them both.....

As part of a secret santa swap i recieved this cute little angel from Jan in England.
Jan, my craft girls fell in love and were figuring out the pattern and how to make her this morning!!

Speaking of craft, i will leave you with some pics of Merrys lovely home. i was doing alot of ooohing and ahhhing this morning, it looks so lovely.
We wont even have tree this year cos the pup will chew up all the decs!!!
Merry has lots of collections, see her mincers on the shelf

She has a few of these old dentists chairs in her family room.

Her side yard and beautiful garden, remember the old telephone boxes! i do, must be showing my age!

We are sooo lucky to be able to have craft here.....

til next time Jenxo
